Things Made in 2012

This is Miss Presley, my great niece.  The quilt she has is a pink strip quilt I made following the "jelly roll" race quilt instructions from the Missouri Star Quilt Company .  Instead of purchasing a Jelly Roll, I cut 2.5" strips from every pink fabric I had in my stash and put them together the same way as the jelly roll instructions.  This quilt is backed with some pretty sparkly butterfly fabric and has a nice lightweight Warm and Natural batting.  It is straight lined quilted.  Every other horizontal stripe has been stitched 1/4" away from the seam lines.  This little quilt was completed November 2012.

I think the next one I make will be quilted on my Easy Quilter (short arm quilting frame that operates like the long-arm quilters).  I think it will be stippled.  I've already got another quilt top made - in the Texas prints.  Just need to get busy finishing several things before I can get to it.

This afghan was made for great niece Katie Jo.  Katie is all grown up.  She and Austin moved into a house this year so made this for Katie's new house.  I'll do a quilt for her later.  KJ told me the colors she wanted.

I've been going to make a Christmas quilt for each of my two brothers.  When I opened my container of Christmas fabrics to see what I have in the stash I discovered I had 10" squares left over from previous seasons that were just waiting to be used.  I stitched them up after laying them out in a random pattern, then put on a border from something already on hand, then backed it with something in the stash.  I used simple straight line stitching, 1/4" on either side of the seams and made the binding by rolling over from the back to to the front rather than using applied binding.  I like the way it turned out.  This one is for my older brother, Joe.  Hope he likes it.

This picture is of the back which shows the double straight line quilting.  I like the back almost as much as the front.  Now to get the label printed and applied.
